In Lieu of Flowers

Bring Valuable End-of-Life Care to Others

A terminal diagnosis evokes a range of emotions for patients and their families. Many choices need to be made at a time when decision making can be difficult. When patients and families choose to invite our care team into their lives, we recognize and appreciate that they are sharing a uniquely challenging, yet special, time.

Through the course of a family’s final months, weeks and days with their seriously ill loved one, many form strong bonds with our physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, bereavement, and spiritual care specialists and volunteers – bonds that last a lifetime. Although no thanks are necessary and we feel privileged to be able to share with and learn from them, families often search for a tangible way to say thank you to our exceptional team.

In such cases, we encourage families to consider naming Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island as their charity of choice in lieu of flowers in their loved one’s death notice. This gives others who are or were close to your loved one the opportunity to memorialize the individual in a truly meaningful way that will help bring our valuable end-of-life care to others in the community.
