HHPCRI Recognizes Physician for Providing Excellent End-of-Life Care

Providence, RI -- February 2010 ... Dr. Plakyil J. Joseph, MD, MRCP, an Oncologist in private practice with Hematology and Oncology Associates of Rhode Island of Cranston, was recently presented the Community Hospice Champion award from Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island (HHPCRI). Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island is the largest and most comprehensive hospice in the state.

The award is given to community and hospital-based physicians in appreciation and recognition for their dedication to excellent end-of-life care. Dr. Joseph was selected for the award based on his responsiveness to patient and family needs, his understanding of hospice and palliative care, and his ability to work collaboratively with the Hospice Team.

Dr. Joseph is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Hematology/Oncology. He received his medical degree from Medical College Kottayam in India, did his residency in Internal Medicine at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Brown University in Providence.
