Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island Appoints Block Associate Medical Director

Eve Block, MDPROVIDENCE, R.I. – Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island (www.HHPCRI.org), the state’s leader in hospice and palliative care since 1976, has appointed Eve Block, MD, of Cranston associate medical director. She will work closely with Edward Martin, MD, chief medical officer, in the organization’s Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.

Dr. Block was at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in 2007 studying hospice and palliative care before completing a fellowship in palliative care at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, all in Boston.

Research Dr. Block completed as an internal medicine resident at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University resulted in her selection to present her findings at the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Annual Assembly in 2009 in Austin, Texas. Her study was called “Got Volunteers? Association of Hospice Use of Volunteers with Bereaved Family Members’ Overall Satisfaction with End-of-Life Care.”

Dr. Block is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

She received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, Conn., and her bachelor’s in biology from Haverford College, Haverford, Penn.
