How Do We Tell the Children? Kids' Grief Information

One of the hardest things we do after someone beloved dies is 'tell the children'.  Whether we are a parent, grandparent, relative or dear friend, we all want to know the 'best' way to help children who are grieving.  This workshop will explore the ways that children grieve at different stages of development and offers concrete information on ways to help a grieving child.

Adult Loss of a Mother
Wednesday, May 19, 2010            6 to 7:30 pm

May brings flowers, graduations, celebrations and Mother's Day.  For someone who is coping with the loss of a mother, May can be a particularly heart-wrenching time of the year.  Whether we are 6 or 60, the loss of a mother can bring up strong and often unexpected emotions.  This workshop will address some of the emotions that adult children can encounter as they grieve the loss of their mother, and offers suggestions on how to cope with this particularly poignant loss.

Adult Loss of a Father
Wednesday, June 16, 2010            6 to 7:30 pm

The beginning of summer is often a joyous time of the year.  School ends for the year and the weather allows for all sorts of outdoor activities.  But for someone grieving the loss of their father, this time of the year can also bring up memories that make it a difficult time of year.  This workshop will address some of the emotions that adult children can encounter as they grieve the loss of their father,and will offer ways and tips on how to handle the loss.

All workshops will be held at:
Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island
1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI.
Fee:  FREE for HHPCRI families, $5 suggested donation per workshop for all others.

Workshop space is limited, pre-registration is required.
