Seminar Explores Masculine/Feminine Expressions of Grief

Providence, RI … The Center for Grief & Healing at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island (HHPCRI), Rhode Island’s leader in hospice and palliative care since 1976, is offering a seminar on Masculine and Feminine Expressions of Grief on Thursday, May 18, 2011, from 6 to 7:30 pm, at their main office located at 1085 North Main Street in Providence.

Every month the Center for Grief & Healing offers seminars on a different topic that may be of interest to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

“Women cry and men are silent is often how we expect people to grieve, but these stereotypes are not always accurate,“ says Joyce Elias, Grief Counselor at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island and one of two counselors who will be facilitating this program. “Much more goes into men’s and women’s expressions of grief.”

Mark O’Neill, also a Grief Counselor at HHPCRI and co-facilitator, adds, “This workshop will look at the different ways men and women can grieve and how to cope when friends and family have very different grieving styles.”

The program is free, but because space is limited, registration is required. For more information or to register, call (401) 415-4300.p>
