A Holistic Approach to Patient Care

Dementia symptoms can get worse over time. But that doesn’t mean a person loses the ability to experience good moments. Research supports the use of a variety of tools and life-affirming activities designed to provide comfort and even joy. We have music, art therapy, Reiki, hand massage, pet therapy and therapeutic blankets available to offer comfort to our hospice patients with dementia. We also provide tools and support to caregivers to help with the wellbeing of loved ones.

How we support caregivers

HopeHealth embraces evidence-based caregiving strategies to manage daily life as the need for care of your loved one intensifies. Our caregiver support tools offer activity booklets, home safety checklists and stress relief resources. Our specially trained volunteers can give you a break by staying with your loved one to give you time to care for yourself or tend to errands.

Caregiving without a break can lead to fatigue and burnout. Asking for help takes courage. When caregivers take better care of themselves, they can take better care of a loved one. We can help you build a strong support system with our weekly caregiver support groups, which are free and open to the public.

Why join a dementia caregiver support group?

Our virtual caregiver support groups meet regularly to give caregivers an opportunity to talk with others going through a similar experience. It can be a great help to hear how others are coping and share a caregiver story in a confidential setting.

All of our support groups are led by specially trained volunteers who can help you find solutions to the challenges that come up as dementia progresses over time.

There are many benefits to being part of a support group. Participating in a group can help you to:

  • Develop a better understanding of the effects of dementia on the brain
  • Learn about resources and options available to you and your loved one.
  • Seek advice about your caregiving challenges.
  • Discuss coping strategies to reduce emotional distress and help your loved one feel safe calm, happy and safe.

We anticipate resuming in-person caregiver support groups soon. Please check back for updates.
